Alcohol Ink Window with Embossed Butterflies | ft. Simon Says Stamp April 2018 Card Kit

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you're having a great day.

So this is the second post/video for today because I really just couldn't wait. I had planned on posting this tomorrow, but that was just soooo far away and I'm really excited about it.

I recommend watching in HD over on YouTube!

There are a couple of new things that I've never before in this card. First off, I created an alcohol ink window for the front of the card, then second I used the Mother of Pearl Structure Gel by Daler Rowney on a second piece of acetate. I had no idea if either of these things would work, but I'm sure glad I turned the camera on just in case. I'm beyond happy about how this card turned out.

Check out the video above to see how this card was put together!

The structure gel dried a little more transparent than I had anticipated, but it still turned out super pretty!

I did not do anything on the inside of this card because I didn't even know what type of card it was going to be. I'm sure when the time comes I'll be inspired.

I hope you like today's card (and video) and are inspired to create something of your own. If you haven't already, please follow me on the right side bar, over on Facebook and on YouTube! Drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think.

Happy Holidays Series | Polar Skies ft Lawn Fawn "For You, Deer"

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you're having a great day.

A little while ago, I shared a card that I had created using alcohol inks for the background, with the little deer from Lawn Fawn's "For You, Deer" stamp set. I loved the card so much that I just had to make another one with the little polar bear.

This card came together quick and easy because I still had a piece of the alcohol inked background. I chose this particular section of the piece because it reminded me of the moon and the northern lights.

To begin, I cut down my alcohol ink background piece to fit at the top of my standard A2 sized card, I used two-way tape to secure that in place.

I stamped the front of the polar bear from Lawn Fawn's "For You, Deer" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock. I coloured him with cool grey Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut him out.

I added a length of shimmering tape to hide the seam where the alcohol ink piece ends and tucked my polar bear behind that. I love that his little paws can hang over the edge, like he's really popping out to say hello.

To finish off the card I stamped the greeting using Lawn Fawn's "Black Licorice" ink.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. If you haven't already, please follow me on the right side bar or over on Facebook, so you don't miss any future posts. Drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think.

Happy Holidays Series | ft Alcohol Ink Accent Panel and Lawn Fawn

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you're having a great day.

I got my first bottles of alcohol ink years ago when I first started out. My mom and I went in together and bought a bunch of stuff a lady was getting rid of. We had no idea what we were doing, this was before I knew about the community and the bloggers and the tutorials. Those bottles sat untouched forever. I didn't know what to do with them, and I didn't even know where to start.

It's incredibly intimidating to try something new when you have no idea where to even begin. I'll be honest I still have those bottles of ink. So definite points for shelf-life. Every now and then I'll pull them out just to play around.

To begin, I used a couple blue alcohol inks on some Ranger Glossy paper, I just add drops to my felt blending tool and bounce them randomly on the paper. I then added the Silver Mixative and blending solution. For me, they always look like a hot mess until suddenly they don't.

I let the panel dry, I didn't even know until last week that there is something you can use to seal it, but I've never had a problem with it wearing or peeling or smudging so I've never used it.

Once the ink was completely dry I trimmed it down to fit the top third of my standard A2 sized card base. I stamped the front of the deer from "For You, Deer" by Lawn Fawn and coloured him in with Copics. I do happen to have the coordinating dies for this set (but only because it has the add-ons to make those super cute tags).

I adhered my ink panel down, then used a piece of shimmering tape to edge the border, and tucked the reindeer in behind the edge. I love the way he just hangs over the edge.

I stamped the greeting from Lawn Fawn's "Toboggan Together" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. If you haven't already please follow me on the right side bar or over on Facebook, so you don't miss any future posts. Drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think.

Wintery Sympathy

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you're having a great day.

I'm not feeling very festive this morning. I just got word that my dear friend lost her dog this morning. She was an older farm dog with a heart of gold. Despite being a giant Rottweiler, she thought she was a tiny little lap dog that always wanted to snuggle. She adopted me and my kids as part of her family and loved to have us all around her. Since a puppy she has always been fiercely protective of the children and the property; she lived a great life with lots of room to run. If there is a doggy heaven, I'm sure she's chasing birds there now.

I'm sorry it's not a cheery post, but sometimes it's more about the emotions than it is about the season.

I'm not sharing the process today as I feel it would cheapen the day of our sadness. I hope you all understand.

I hope to be back on track tomorrow, with something more festive to share.
