I {heart} Autumn Series 2016 | ft. Lawn Fawn and the Positive Die Cut

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you are having a great day.

Today is one of those weird days where I'm all alone. The older kids are at school, the little one is at Grandma's house and the hubby is at work. So I have the whole house to my very own self. All by my self. I don't even know what to do with my time.

LOL.

Yes, I do.

So a couple posts ago, I showed you all a use for the negative space when die cutting. You can see that post here. As promised, today I have a piece that uses the positive space, or the pieces that were actually cut using the dies. Not only that but the pieces I used today are the same ones that I had set aside in that post.

And while Autumn is technically over, a promise is a promise and I would be remiss if I didn't keep my word to you guys.

To begin, I used the tattered die cut for the panel, and then stamped the greeting using Lawn Fawn Black Licorice ink.

I then used Forest Moss, Gathered Twigs and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks to give the leaves the look of fall. Once those where dry, I ran them through the Xyron X (1.5") sticker maker. I adhered the leaves down the way I wanted and used some plain twine to tie the piece together, (see what I did there?).

I then cut a piece of dark brown cardstock to fit the front of a standard A2 sized card and used foam tape to mount the front panel.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. Don't forget to follow me over on the right sidebar so you don't miss out on any new posts, and toss me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think. I love to hear from you!

I {heart} Autumn Series 2016 | ft. Lawn Fawn

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you are having a great day.

Today I have a super sweet card featuring Lawn Fawn. When I first started stamping and card making a few years ago, Lawn Fawn was the reason. These little critters and just so sweet and they really work well together so mixing and matching sets is always easy.

To begin I die cut my focus piece using a Spellbinders set, then I positioned the two little mice and the greeting on my MISTI and stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Next I masked off the mice and stamped the two pumpkins, also from a Lawn Fawn set.

I coloured the images with Copic Markers and then sponged Antique Linen Distress ink around the piece to make it look old.

I used the Lawn Fawn wood-grain background stamp with Chocolate ink from CTMH, on brown cardstock to create the background panel. I adhered that down using my regular tape runner. I then adhered the focus piece.

To finish it off, I added just a touch of Wink of Stella clear glitter to the buckle on the hat.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. Don't forget to follow me over on the right sidebar so you don't miss out on any future posts! And toss me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think, I love to hear from you!

I {heart} Autumn Series 2016 | with Technique Tip: Negative Space Die Cutting

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you are having a great day.

Here in Canada we are long past Thanksgiving. Ours is in October, however I think any time and especially now it is important to look at and be thankful for the things that we have in our lives. To really appreciate the good that we have. It's an unknown territory we are stepping into and a bit of reflection won't hurt anyone.

For today's card, I began by using the Stitched Leaves die cuts from Lawn Fawn on a piece of 110lb cardstock. I wanted to create the appearance of falling leaves. I set the leaves aside for another project (spoiler!).

I then masked off 1/4" all the way around my card base. I didn't want too many layers for the card, so I decided to do my sponging directly on the front of the card base as opposed to creating a second panel. I sponged together Dried Moss, Gathered Twigs and Rusty Hinge Distress inks; which happens to be my favourite combination for leaves and fall.

I then prepped the top panel with my powder tool and stamped the greeting, also from Lawn Fawn, in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with gold. Normally I'm more of a silver girl, but gold is an autumn colour.

Next I took two lengths of bakers twine in heavy green and yellow and tied them around the panel in a casual bow. I really wanted the leaves to be the focus of the piece and felt that if I added anything else it would take away from that. So I kept it simple.

Finally I popped the panel up on foam tape and mounted it on my card base.

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. Don't forget to follow me over on the right sidebar and toss me a comment in the comments section below, I love to hear from you!
