Happy Holidays Series | Sparkling Surprise ft. Lawn Fawn "For You, Deer"

Hi everyone, thank you for stopping by. I hope you're having a great day.

Yesterday was the first day that I haven't posted since the beginning of July. I'd like to tell you it was because I was super busy getting ready for Christmas. But I wasn't. I had coffee with a friend in the morning and the rest of the day got away from me. It wasn't until I was getting ready for bed that I even realized it. And by then I was too tired to post. So I apologize.

To make up for it, I have a super cute card featuring Lawn Fawn stamps and dies (no surprise there!). I knew I wanted to make a card where you could pull out the bookmark, but I still wanted the card to be pretty without that main focus piece. And while some may think there is too much sparkle, I think it turned out rather well.

To begin, I cut the large snowflake from Lawn Fawn's "Stitched Snowflakes" dies from the top centre of a piece of silver glitter paper. I used the panel or positive space of the cut for my front panel. Over my background, I lined up the snowflake and adhered all those little pieces that we normally just toss away.

I cut a piece of shimmering paper for my greetings banner and stamped the Happy Holidays using VersaMark ink and heat embossed with silver powder.

On a piece of 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock I stamped the front and back of the deer tag from "For You, Deer" with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him with Copics. I placed the tag inside the snowflake (as you can see in the photo above) and built up my foam tape around him.

I adhered the sparkling panel to the front of my shimmering panel and then mounted the whole piece to the front of a standard A2 sized card base.

I stamped the little message on to a piece of blue shimmering cardstock and put the tag together. I then added a red gem for his nose and some baker's twine through the top of the tag.

Now, even when the recipient removes the tag, the card is still pretty enough to keep on display!

I hope you like today's card and are inspired to create something of your own. If you haven't already, please follow me on the right side bar or over on Facebook, so you don't miss any future posts. Drop me a line in the comments section below and let me know what you think.

Stinkin' Cute Shaker

Okay, so this doesn't really count as a card, but it's so "stinkin' cute" I just couldn't resist.

Oh, right and WELCOME TO VALENTINE'S DAY 2016 SERIES!

I created this with the Ready, Set, Snow die cuts from Lawn Fawn and the Stinkin' Cute skunk. I will warn you now; I love this little guy. I promise you can expect to see him in many future posts.

I used distress inks to colour the background as well as the shaker frame and I popped up the front on a piece of fun foam that I die cut. I'm going to have to play around with the glue because this did not stick together as well as I would have hoped. Strange that it never happened on any of my other shakers, just this one.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 10

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for visiting today.

Today's card is more on the whimsical side. This adorable snowman wishes you all a very Happy Holidays!

I've coloured him with copics, adding white glitter for the pompom and the fur on his cap.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 6

It didn't really occur to me, until I was speaking with my Mother-in-law, to include a more religiously toned card in the series. I'm glad that she requested it, because the card turned out to be beautiful.

I wanted to keep this card simple and allow it to speak for itself.

Originally I had used a matte black instead of the shimmery background and while it looked good, my sister pointed out that black wasn't really a "Christmas" colour. Then I moved to a shimmery blue background and that didn't speak to me at all. I liked the black, but I loved the elegance of the shimmer. I think the card came together with the best of both options.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 5

This card was so much fun to make. Not only did I get to include snowflakes, glitter and watercolour, I was also able to place it on a completely clear card base.

This card can be displayed in either landscape (shown below) or portrait orientation, depending on your preference.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 4

This card has a raised and embossed shimmery snowfall background with raised greeting focus. Sparkling "Joy" over silver embossed large snowflake, with silver accent strip and colour matching twine for added interest. The above in scarlet and below in blue.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 3

To me, a classic sign of the Holidays is the Cardinal. The stark contrast between his bright plumage and the white of snow helps him to stand out as a sure symbol of the season.

Watercoloured Cardinal with gold embossed greeting and shimmery snowflake accents. Barely visible around him is a frosted blue aura, this helps him to stand out against the background and additionally lend to the illusion of winter.

For a different take on this card, as a custom request please see this post.

Winter and Holiday Card Series 2015 - Card 2

I'm sure it is becoming very clear that I adore Snowflakes. They are featured on nearly all my winter/Christmas cards. There is something about their beauty and delicacy that appeals to me. Each one is unique just as people are.

Raised and embossed shimmering snowflakes add a perfect backdrop for a bold and sparkling Merry Christmas greeting. The above card has the greeting in deep red, below the greeting is in blue.

Whether it be Christmas, Yule, Solstice, or simply Happy Holidays; there's a card for it. Over the next few weeks I'll be showing the Winter cards I have created for 2015.

So let's dive right in!

This card features a blue ombre feature strip with sparkling die cut snowflakes and an embossed greeting in matching blue ink.

Here is the same design replacing the blue snowflakes and greeting with silver.
