Just a Pup | Coloured Pencil on Craft Paper

Today's card is a touch different than what I normally do. Today I've stamped some images from one of my much older sets, way down at the bottom of my stash. But the real treat is the colouring. At least for me. I always forget how much I love the look of coloured pencil on craft paper. No matter how many times you use those pencils, they'll look different on the craft paper.

To begin, I stamped the dog and the dish on craft paper using CTMH Archival ink, I then masked them off and stamped the hydrant and the greeting.

I removed the masks and coloured the images with Prismacolor pencils. For each image there are about three shades, and then I used a white for the highlights.

If colouring on craft is not something you have ever done, I highly recommend it. While we all get a certain sense of satisfaction from colouring, watching the image come to life, there's a different feeling when it comes to the craft. The paper, being darker, lends a warmth to the finished image that I find I don't get when I use pencil crayons on white paper.

Single Layer Thanks on Craft

Now that the Holidays are nearly done, I have been able to give a little bit of love to all the non-Christmas stamps that have been waiting so patiently for me.

I have been finding an increasing need for Thank you cards, a few times a week I'm hunting around through my stash of cards for something that shows my appreciation. Needless to say, that stash is getting depleted at an alarming rate.

That being said, today's card is a sweet single layer thank you card, coloured with PrismaColor pencils.

The cat has three shades of orange and the puppy has four shades of brown, the hearts were coloured with two shades of red then covered in glossy accents to make them shine and give just a touch of dimension. The greeting is coloured in the same shades of red with the darker of the two at the bottom, creating a suble ombre effect that wasn't really picked up by the camera. To ground the image I used four shades of green to create a grassy effect.
