Lawn Fawnatics Challenge "Inspired by a Book, Movie or Song"

Today's card is for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge "Inspired by a Book, Movie or Song". This one took me a while. Not gonna lie, I was super intimidated by the stuff the design team put out for this challenge. Their cards are absolutely amazing!

The movie I chose was "Mary Poppins", I wanted to do something I hadn't yet seen on the entries and something that would let me use some of the sets that were hanging out in my stash that I hadn't opened yet. (Crazy, right?)

All the images are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock. I started by stamping the umbrella from "Elphie Selfie" and masking that off, I then stamped one of the fairies from "Fairy Friends", but made sure to not ink up her wings.

For the houses and trees I stamped the images from "Happy Village" with a bit of masking to make the front layer a single piece. I coloured all the images with Copic markers. I added some clear Wink of Stella over her dress and the umbrella.

For my background panel, I sponged Peacock Feathers, Faded Jeans, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Ink to create my twilight sky. I knew that the front row of house was going to be popped up, so I sponged a bit of Forest Moss to create the ground.

Once the ink was completely dry, I splattered some White Gold from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette to create some soft stars.

I adhered the back layer of trees with the larger cluster of houses directly to the panel and popped up the front row with some foam tape. I popped up the top half of Mary Poppins with more foam tape, but used Scor tape to adhere her lower half to the panel. I wanted her to appear to be coming out of the picture as though she were flying up and away from the houses, but the effect did not translate well to camera. In person you get the idea.

The greeting from "Fairy Friends" was stamped with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with Lawn Fawn's Silver embossing powder.

I then mounted the panel to a piece of dark blue cardstock with foam tape and adhered the whole lot to the front of a standard A2 sized card base.

2018 Sporadic Fall Series | ft. Lawn Fawn Mini Pop Up Box Die Set and You're the Pick of the "Patch Stamp"

So given my terribly inconsistent posting (for which I cannot apologize enough) I can, at best, promise only the most sporadic of postings for this series. Which is shocking, considering that this is by far my most favourite season. Sadly, by the time I get home from work, we have dinner and get the kids all settled, I'm just not in the head space to be in the craft room.

There have been a couple days where I have plowed through and been in there, but then sent out the cards without taking pictures. To which I end up being super unhappy with myself, because you'd think that after blogging for this long, I would know my own routine.

Anyway, it hasn't stopped me from BUYING all the new things, especially when it comes to Lawn Fawn. Today's card features the Mini Pop Up Box die set as well as the brand new "Pick of the Patch" stamp set. Both of which are SUPER fun to play with!!

To begin, I stamped the squirrel as well as the pumpkin with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock, coloured them with Copics and fussy cut them out. Normally I'd use the Scan N Cut, but I'm doing some reorganizing in the art room right now, and it's a little inaccessible.

I used one of the frames from Lawn Fawn's "Mini Picture Frames" die set to frame up my images then added a length of natural twine and a brad to make it look like it was hanging. All of the pattered paper in today's card comes from the Knit Picky mini 6x6 paper pack.

I cut the mini box from some 65lb Kraft cardstock and added the side panels from the extra patterned paper on the front. I stamped the rest of my images, coloured them and fussy cut them out. To make them all stick I used the Nuvo Precision Glue Pen (which I LOVE).

When I create another of these cards, I will rotate the box so that the triangles (where it attaches to the inside of the card) open at the top. It wasn't until afterwards that it occurred to me, they shouldn't be visible from the angle at which you are looking at it. But, live and learn, right?

Much like the Shadow Box die set, I love how you can get so much more dimension in such a tiny space. Of the two new interactive die sets, this one is currently my favourite. It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to make a BIG surprise on the inside of an already super fun card.

Happy Holidays Series | Foxy Winter ft. Lawn Fawn "Into the Woods"

I've mentioned previously that it was Lawn Fawn that started me out making cards. Not directly, of course, I'm sure they have no idea who I am. But it was a tiny fox on Pinterest and that was the beginning for me.

This little fox was the start of an amazing journey into paper-crafting and it has boomed for me since then. Lawn Fawn remains my number one stash item, and you may have noticed from the cards in this year's Holiday Series that they are generally my first choice when it comes to crafting.

And we all have this sweet little fox to thank.

To begin, I stamped the fox from Lawn Fawn's "Into the Woods" stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock. I then masked him off and stamped the wood log using CTMH's Saddle ink.

I masked off the log and used Broken China Distress ink to create a halo around him. I then mixed Mother of Pearl Structure Paste with Tumbled Glass Distress ink to create a shimmering soft blue. I laid down my snowflake stencil by Hot Off the Press and put my paste through that.

Any time you are using embossing paste always be sure to clean your tools quickly. I use warm soapy water and a stiff nail brush to ensure I get it all out of the stencil, then hang the stencil to dry.

I removed the masks and coloured my fox with Copic markers. Once the structure paste had dried a bit, I prepped the top corner with my powder tool and stamped the greeting from CTMH's "Sending Smiles" with VersaMark embossing ink and heat embossed with silver powder.

I set the panel aside to dry completely and sponged Broken China Distress Oxide Ink around the edges of my standard A2 sized card base. Once the ink had dried I adhered the panel to the front.

Hello Halloween Series | Wiggly Ghosts ft. Lawn Fawn "Booyah"

A while back I did a review of the Crayola Washable Watercolours, as part of that review I did a super fun galaxy background and I promised that I would create a card with it. Today is that card! The 10th in this year's Hello Halloween Series! We're winding down now, and every time I post one I just want to make more!!

I've made a few galaxy backgrounds now and this is by far the brightest. I just love the way the black muted the insanely vibrant colours but didn't really obscure them.

This is also my first "wiggly" card and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. The ghosts shake just enough and don't smack into each other, so I'll call it a win.

To begin, I stamped the costumes from Lawn Fawn's "Booyah" stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock. I then masked those off and stamped the ghosts and their treat bags. I removed the masks and cut the images using the Brother 2 Scan N Cut.

I don't have the coordinating dies for this set so I was able to use the Brother machine to cut the costumed, bag carrying ghosts as one piece instead of having to cut all the pieces individually and piece them together. This machine is sooooo amazing!

I then coloured the images with Copic markers and attached a length of "Unique Ultra Fine Invisible Thread" to the backs of each ghost. This is a super thin nylon thread that I was able to get at my local fabric store, for about $3.00. It's super strong and nearly invisible. I'm not sure what it would be used for in the sewing world; but in my little corner of the crafting universe it works wonderfully for suspending an image to make spinner cards, or today to make wiggly ghosts.

I trimmed the galaxy background piece down a bit, then used the largest of my Spellbinder Scalloped Rectangles to cut a window from the centre.

To put the card together, I mounted the middle part of the galaxy directly to a piece of 65lb black cardstock. I adhered the ends of the strings to the top and bottom of the frame portion of the galaxy using Skor tape (my go-to when I don't want anything to get away). Because I wanted the ghosts to wiggle when you shake the card, I made sure there was a bit of slack in the string. If this were a spinner card, I would have pulled the string as tight.

I then popped the frame portion up on foam tape and stuck that to the panel. I then mounted the entire piece to the front of a standard A2 sized card base.

Hello Halloween Series| ft Lawn Fawn Magic Color Slider

For today's Hello Halloween card I thought I would use some awesome pattern papers, one of my all time favourite stamp sets and the Magic Color Slider Die set.

When this "Happy Harvest" stamp set came out, I almost died. I'm not kidding, I couldn't have been more excited. This was the perfect scene building set.

Don't get me wrong, their Christmas scene builders are amazing, but I'm a prairie fall girl and there is nothing more exciting than that crisp autumn air and the harvest and for me, this was the set.

This was also the first time I used the Magic Slider as a component to my card instead of the ONLY part of the card.

To begin, I created my Magic Color Slider using some Recollections Halloween paper. I stamped the wagon from Lawn Fawn's "Happy Harvest" on my acetate using Staz-On Black ink.

I stamped the scarecrow with his little crow on a piece of 110lb Copic-friendly cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I then used my Brother 2 Scan N Cut to cut him out. While I do have the coordinating dies for this set, I added the crow directly to his arm and the dies can't cut that. I then coloured him with Copics.

For the "Magic" piece, I stamped that same wagon, masked that off and stamped the corn stalks with CTMH Honey Ink, then I stamped the crow and coloured them all with Copics.

I used a piece of my favourite Halloween cardstock for the background of the card, sadly I have no idea of the brand as the packaging didn't make it. And I can't find any more of it, so it's officially a paper that I'm hoarding now. LOL, I want to say Imaginisce, but that may not be right.

I adhered the slider to the front, slightly off centre and added my scarecrow to the left.
